“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

(Finally she called me for the session at 9:40 PM. Again she struggled to get comfortable, just as she’d done for last Wednesday night’s session. Walter is a nice young man. I went back to working on taxes while Jane talked to him, and at the same time found myself wondering whether his unexpected visit might symbolize one of the very facets of Jane’s dilemma about privacy versus the public life—at least as I understand it: Her vulnerability and availability to anyone who chooses to come here. We can’t get away. Others must know this, by whatever means, and may take advantage of her immobility. Walter, for example, told us that when he woke up this morning he decided to go see Jane Roberts—so he just came. [This was his second visit, the first being a couple of years ago.]

(“Walter wants to be ‘a great psychic teacher’ like me or Cayce,” Jane said as we waited for Seth to come through. He therefore expressed an attitude typical of many visitors or those who write—attitudes that really bother Jane. “I didn’t feel good when he came in.” Jane continued, “but at the same time I enjoyed talking to him. He energized me and I forgot my troubles....” Walter didn’t stay too long, as noted, because I’d asked him not to. In this case at least, then, Jane had reacted positively to someone drawn to her by a public aspect of her abilities.

(We almost didn’t have the session. An unexpected visitor arrived at about 8 PM—Walter from Connecticut—and Jane talked to him for at least half an hour. Then she did the dishes, and so forth. All this time she was so uncomfortable in her chair that I thought she’d pass up the session, although I’d been hoping she’d get at least a little something on herself; I thought we shouldn’t be losing any chances to do so at this time.

(Seth slipped in some personal material on Walter Zeh before “Ruburt catches me in the act.” [...] Now he said that Walter Zeh had also been an invalid in a previous life, and a female. For reasons he didn’t go into now, Jane owed Walter Zeh a debt, which she has paid in full. [...] In his previous life Walter Zeh had been crippled because of an accident.

(Walter Zeh is a fragment personality, and a disturbed one. [...] Yet Walter has learned much and is doing very well.

Walter Zeh was your wife’s sister. [...] Walter Zeh was tubercular, and also as a woman extremely fleshy, as indeed your wife was. When Walter met Ruburt’s mother they also disliked each other instantly in this life, since they quarreled over the same man, and you were that man. [...]

[...] However quite a bit of good information came through and so I must say good night, this time for Ruburt’s sake, as he is blocking Walter Zeh or Z-i-a-k-a material most strongly.

(Apropos of the above, I quote briefly from an article in the New York Times for May 9, 1968, written by Walter Sullivan and datelined May 8 from Cambridge, Massachusetts. [...]

His mother, Father Ryan, Walter, some college friends, Mozet, Hays, all of those persons in one way or another implied strongly at times that he was either a saint or a devil, a creator or a destroyer. [...]

I am not implying that the father consciously intends either unkindness nor revenge, any more than I am implying that Ruburt intended unkindness or revenge on Walter Zeh; yet was this not the result, and is it not the result here?

[...] I hesitate to go into Jane’s Walter Zeh experience at this time. [...]

[...] In various ways you have struggled with psychic realities; and Mark and Roarck are also involved with practical considerations involving women, as earlier Ruburt was involved with her Walter, and you, Joseph, were also involved.
