(Jane has not been experimenting with psychological time since Seth suggested she stop at the time of her prolonged trance state of March 15.

[...] In these cases the suggestion itself could, under some conditions, bring the events about.

[...] I suggest the bookcases as a permanent arrangement. These are, after all, only logical suggestions to make your daily living more comfortable, and therefore free your energies. The same sort of thing appears when Ruburt gives himself poor suggestions. [...]

Imaginative exercises at times seemed impractical, or suggestion futile. The fact is that suggestions work—when you believe that they work. [...]

Can I give you a few practical suggestions, to fit your present situation? [...]

I told you both to do certain suggestions together, because your belief in them and your effectiveness could help him revive his own body beliefs. [...]

Particular suggestions given in a group of closely allied sessions for him are geared to his condition at that time, and to the circumstances. While the reasons and beliefs as discussed in such sessions will still be valid, the suggestions that I give will be geared toward their application in given circumstances.

While these suggestions may appear on the surface quite different from others I have given, if you look closely you will see that they are another method of encouraging spontaneity, and methods most suited now to his circumstances. In a weekly period, for example (rather than a daily one), these suggestions if followed will show him his own rhythms and patterns, so that he may feel like going out impulsively because he wants to, after a bout of writing, rather than feel that he “should.”

Now I bid you a fond good evening, and suggest you read my suggestions, at least, to Ruburt in the morning.

His suggestions should follow the lines of inspiration in his writing-requests for psychic and creative insight while avoiding absolutes. Again, physical suggestions such as “I can walk easier” are fine. [...] But avoid suggestions like “I can astonish myself,” etc., of which he is so fond. I personally suggest, although he can do as he wishes, that he see himself rising at a decent hour to enjoy his day, and that he try two out-of-bodies a week during the day, as he used to. [...]

I suggest, if he wants to, that he use the pendulum, which is utilizing his own body’s knowledge, asking if any foods upset him. Refraining from those while working as I suggest with beliefs is all right, since he is using his own abilities. [...]

[...] The negative suggestions in such books as the ones Ruburt is considering buying would not help him.

I have a few more suggestions.

[...] I suggest therefore that he make an attempt to express his moods, both joyful and sorrowful, in physical terms through body motion. [...]

Go out again to your establishments, where the environment itself is suggestive, you see. [...]

[...] I should suggest however a good night’s sleep, and I should suggest specifically that you give yourself the same sort of suggestion that Ruburt gave to himself before retiring.

Then I will speak briefly concerning Ruburt’s book of poetry, for this is an excellent example of how suggestion can be used to utilize energy for conscious purposes.
