(As we talked about Seth’s statement, and decided we should concentrate upon beneficial things, Jane then wanted to know how this idea fits in with the importance of not repressing negative thoughts. As I started to answer Seth broke in:)
[...] When she returned home she used the pendulum to learn that she had been repressing reactions to a statement of mine of the other day, to the effect that I didn’t think she’d be able to get around well enough to go on tour for Seth Speaks, if Prentice-Hall asked us to. [...]
[...] I reminded her of what Seth had said in the deleted session for February 26, 1972 , in Marathon: “You get what you concentrate upon. [...]

As for the question of distortions in the material, and the obvious contradictions in the early sessions as far as dates, etc., are concerned: The reasons for these are dealt with by Seth as the material unfolds. [...] As Seth has often said, the material will furnish its own evidence, more and more emphatically as time goes on.
[...] (This includes a few sessions other than the Seth material.) There are 168 hours in a week.
At first when she began dictating Seth’s answers to my questions, Jane would hear the words within, then repeat them aloud so I could write them down. [...]
Now even when Jane delivers an answer via Seth that may be five typewritten pages long, she never repeats herself, loses track of what she is saying, uses the words “uh,” “er,” etc., or changes in any way what she had said. [...]
(Since I’ve been curious about these questions for some time, I thought the readers of Seth’s book might be also. As things develop, however, Seth doesn’t pay any attention to the first question now, and takes off from the second one in a most interesting way.
(At this point, however, Seth requested that I lay my notebook aside for a bit, saying he regretted that I was kept so busy writing during sessions. [...] Jane’s eyes were wide and dark, her delivery lively; it was easy to sense the immediacy of Seth’s presence. [...]

(Jane told me that had the session continued, Seth was going to say that Patty Middleton’s visit last week had been incipient from the time we met her in Philadelphia, in September, 1970. Seth knew there was a high probability that she would be here when he was working on the section of his book concerning stages of consciousness. [...]

[...] For myself, I listed the following before the session, as I’d promised Seth last time I would:
(3. More on Jane’s eyes, since I know she’s worried and frightened by that condition of strain, as Seth described it in the last session.
[...] No sooner had Seth come through than I became aware of an unaccustomed tightness in my writing hand — a tension that interfered with the automatic formation of the letters and words. I kept the notes going by making an extra effort, but I found it quite distracting to keep thinking about the mechanics of writing while trying to concentrate upon what Seth was saying. [...]
(The next morning Jane told me that she and/or Seth “worked on the book all night. [...] We planned to ask Seth about it also.)
[...] (Seth-Jane spoke emphatically, rapping upon the coffee table between us.) Because of this, physically speaking and in life as you think of it, the mind is to a large extent dependent upon the brain’s growth and activity. [...]
(I told Jane I’d thought of using the pendulum after the session to get at the cause of the hand phenomenon, since I didn’t want to interrupt book dictation by asking Seth about it. [...]
(In an effort to further clear up Seth’s rather involved interpretation of Jane’s dream of September 7, I made it a point to ask Jane just before the session was due tonight about the statement Seth-Jane had made on page 46, involving Jane’s friend, Marie Tubbs, in childbirth. Marie wrote Jane on October 11 that she has not given birth for two years, and Seth dealt with what looked like a discrepancy between the two sets of facts to a partial degree in the 98th session. [...]

(I might add that Seth’s capsule commentary on the reasons for her symptoms is just what I wanted, and that we ought to keep copies of it available for easy reference. [...] If Jane reads this material before holding a session tonight, perhaps Seth can comment.)
