“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

(In Monday’s session Seth had started a discussion of Jane’s recent visitor, “Augustus,” who had shown definite signs of a subordinate or secondary personality. As we sat for tonight’s session Jane said, “I know what Seth’s going to call Augustus’s other personality: ‘Augustus Two.’” We were amused, thinking of Seth and Seth Two.¹ Now, Jane began speaking slowly in trance.)

[...] Jane remembered nothing of what Seth had said. But as soon as she came out of trance — which was quickly, as usual — she told me, “I can tell that Seth’s got more on that right there, all ready and waiting…. [...]

[...] During a spontaneous exchange, Seth delivered some insights concerning his own origin and creative aspects, and why Jane’s personality would make the emergence of a Seth possible. [...]

(“Good evening, Seth.”)

(Jane told me that “at the tail end of the session,” she had picked up this idea from Seth; I could tape a session, and while it was in progress I would be free to do a series of sketches of her speaking for Seth. [...] Jane was sure the idea came from Seth. [...]

(Seth has suspended dictation on his book for the last five weeks. [...] Of the four regular sessions held in the remaining time, large portions dealt with matters growing out of the September 4th publication of Jane’s own book, The Seth Material, and a projected radio and television tour.

(“Good night, Seth, and thank you.” [...] In the latter part of the session l had been able to easily sense the immediacy of Seth’s presence.

(Now that we could relax a little, however, we had every confidence that Seth would easily resume work on Chapter Eleven of his book, even though Jane hasn’t looked at it for quite a while now. [...]

[...] In the 198th session, Seth said she would receive a letter from her publisher by the next Saturday. [...] We have yet to receive any word on our kitchen enlargement, which Seth also predicted would be settled by the Saturday after the 198th session.

[...] I hoped Seth would comment on the dream.

(In the 200th session, Seth said Jane’s publisher, Frederick Fell, would be hurt by Jane’s demands for action, but would cover it with a cosmopolitan air. [...]

(Actually, the session might better be called a Jane/Seth session, in that Jane’s own consciousness was often uppermost, riding upon Seth’s underlying and steadying influence. [...] As we sat at the kitchen table discussing her work, Jane felt that she could go into a trance state that was her own for a change, instead of being in “just” a Seth trance. [...]

[...] She’s worked each day at her third novel on The Adventures of Oversoul Seven, and has heard often from Sue Watkins about Sue’s progress with her book on Jane’s ESP class: Conversations with Seth and with all of her other activities. [...]

[...] Seth will comment extensively on Three Mile Island, just as he’s in the process of doing about Jonestown. [...]

(I’d asked Jane today if Seth could discuss briefly two subjects in the session this evening: My recent hassles with the discomfort in my side and groin, and Jane’s right hand. [...] I’d obtained what I thought was some good pendulum material on the problem, and wanted to see if Seth confirmed it. [...]

(She remembered Seth talking about my own hassles, and the dreams. [...] In a more penetrating way, Seth enlarged upon some of the pendulum information I’d picked up.)

[...] I reminded Seth.)

[...] Before the session I’d mentioned to Jane that I’d like something from Seth about my dream of early this morning. [...]

[...] I’d wanted Seth to say something more specific about my being the same age [as a woman] as my father in the dream.)

(“Thank you, Seth.”)

[...] Later I thought that I should have asked Seth what kind of interpretation of the dream a conventional psychologist would have given. [...]

(I told Jane I wouldn’t mind having Seth comment tomorrow. [...] But then, Seth said Jane doesn’t have arthritis—so that’s what we’ve been going by. [...] In short, I wanted something from Seth about whether it was worth it, or even necessary, that Jane try this diet—which, after all, would be the latest in the series of schemes I’ve come across in efforts to help her. [...]

[...] I’d say that Seth’s session today, Sweetheart, shows that we’re on the right track. [...] Let’s hear it, Seth!)

(“Afternoon, Seth.”)

(4:47 p.m. Jane only vaguely remembered Seth’s answer to my question. [...] Then I explained that my next question was simply whether she could place herself in that state with Seth present, even though I wasn’t there and Seth didn’t speak. [...]

[...] This, even though Seth has lately again suggested she reread certain material. [...]

(“Good evening, Seth.”)

(Jane said I could ask Seth my second question tomorrow.)

[...] I wanted Seth to comment if she had a session today. [...]

[...] Seth had said then that the dream was legitimate, and that it meant the source of the checks was far away—upstate New York. [...]

(Jane’s Seth voice was rather quiet. [...]

(“Afternoon, Seth.”)

[...] Jane said she was really “out”, or that Seth was really “in.” [...] She said she wouldn’t have been surprised had Seth called off the session in the beginning.

[...] I hoped Seth could fill us in on the details. [...]

(“Good evening, Seth.”)

(Seth began talking about quasars and related background material in the last session. [...]

[...] Seth deals with this fact to some extent as far as his relationship to Jane is concerned. Jane is not Seth now, he states, not his subconscious mind; nevertheless Jane’s entity Ruburt is, now, an extension and materialization of the Seth that he was at one time, centuries ago. [...]

[...] Seth has said that I paint these portraits of unknowns because I have received telepathic data on them. At one time I had decided never to sell the portrait, but gradually changed my view on this in the light of my own feelings, along with Seth’s statements concerning my using my work to influence others. [...]

(Both of us have kept strict records of our psychological time studies, for example, with the hope that Seth will eventually discuss them. The records have now piled up to such an extent, however, that we do not really understand how Seth can ever cover them, as he has promised to at various times, in very much detail. [...]

(I am not sure that Seth’s statement on page 150 constitutes a distortion, when he mentions that a communication between our universe and the universe of negative matter is possible. [...] In the 63rd session Seth states that our universe and the two universes comprising the universe of negative matter can never meet. [...]

(I do think there’s something here, then, Seth can comment. It would be no accident, then, that this session came through when it did—as Jane begins to heal herself physically, so does she psychically, as Seth remarked would happen in yesterday’s session. [...]

[...] I’m keeping Seth’s information about bureaucratic bungling in mind, I told Jane; it appears that he is quite right. [...]

(Her Seth voice was good, her eyes usually closed or nearly so.)

[...] Seth added this bit of information at the last, just before break. [...] Seth agreed with her after break.

[...] Seth however discounts any possible data obtained through fingering, etc.

[...] The three have heard Seth speak before on a few informal occasions; this was their first regular session. [...]

(Seth was giving general reincarnational data on my family and on Jane’s as early as the 9th session, while avoiding such things as times of death, etc. [...] Seth began to be more specific on family reincarnational data when he told Jane and me in a very early session that neither of us would be born again on the physical plane; this, he said, accounted for our lack of children and the desire for them. Seth explained that both of us had been parents before, experiencing both the male and female roles. [...]

(As Seth explains on page 134 of this session, some of the test data tonight represents preliminary connections with the test object, just as in the last envelope test with the drawing made by Roy Fox. Thus Jane’s personal associations are now often connected with the test object, and she is working with Seth and not against him.

(In the unscheduled 203rd session of October 28, with the Gallaghers as witnesses, Seth gave some information having to do with the Incas reaching Florida and building small settlements. [...]

(As suggested by Seth in the 212th session, I have been keeping a record of outside weather conditions just preceding each session. [...]

[...] Seth dealt with this in the 98th session. [...] Seth stated that the nodule would disappear. [...]

(Today marks a week since Seth’s statements concerning a writing sale on Jane’s part. [...]

[...] She has not met two other executives there who have taken some cognizance of her work, and we now speculate that the situation described by Seth on page 126 might apply to Playboy. [...]

(Another question asked before the session: Seth’s own definition of electrical reality, in connection with the book on the Seth material Jane is now writing.)

[...] Shortly before nine she reported glimmerings from Seth.

(Her pace as Seth was slower than Monday’s, but still a good one. [...]

[...] Jane said she’d used the phrase given by Seth at 9:04, “Facts are only accepted fiction….” just this afternoon in her own theoretical work, Aspect Psychology; she had also written about ideas very much like those Seth presented at 9:15.

(Seth caught me. [...] The complicated family situation involving Mother Butts isn’t gone into here, but Jane and I decided to include the more generalized parts of Seth’s information; we think it will help others in their relationships with old people.

[...] Seth meant that we could hold sessions on a daily basis. [...]

(Possibly here Seth refers to the results flowing from Dick’s mentioning The Seth Material on his TV and radio shows in the course of talking about his own book, Jonathan Livingston Seagull, etc.)

[...] Your position as not being publicity seekers works strongly to your advantage now, as far as Seth Speaks and The Seth Material is concerned. [...]

[...] Telling me about it—we also reread this session—Jane said it would be more than a casual mention of The Seth Material in the article, and that now she could “feel a tremendous amount of energy gathering around” the fact of Dick Bach, us, Seth, etc.

(Seth later said my question to Jane was Nebene speaking. [...]

[...] Jane wanted more material for the Appendix of Seth’s book. [...] She began speaking for Seth in a very quiet voice. [...]

(Jane and I worked on proofreading Seth’s book for an hour or so after supper, and then went for a walk. [...]

[...] Jane had finished the Introduction to Seth’s book today. [...]

3. A note added five months later: For some of Seth’s early remarks about time, see the excerpts from the 14th session (for January 8, 1964) in Chapter 4 of The Seth Material. I quoted a few lines from the same session midway through the Introductory Notes for Volume 1 of “Unknown” Reality (as well as after the 724th session in Volume 2), and considered some thoughts about our attempts to grasp Seth’s concept of simultaneous time. The notes introducing this first volume also contain other applicable material having to do with Jane’s trance production times for the Seth books.
