“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

Jane has great energy and power at her disposal when speaking for Seth, and I can often feel those qualities as though they form a collective palpable entity in itself. During our private and book sessions Seth’s voice effects are usually quite conversational in tone and emphasis, and he speaks slowly enough so that I can comfortably take notes. The Seth voice can be stunning in volume and rapidity of delivery, however, and can seemingly continue in those modes indefinitely: I’ve witnessed some truly remarkable demonstrations, lasting several hours. [...] Nor is Jane ever exhausted by speaking for Seth — rather, she reports an infusion of energy, both subjectively and objectively. As she’s often said, she “rides” the Seth voice, or the energy behind or within it.

2. Occasionally, instead of calling for a particular word or phrase to be underlined for emphasis, Seth delivers it louder — sometimes much louder. [...] On the printed page the results look pretty much like those words Seth himself wants underlined, but during the session they come through quite differently.

[...] As I wrote in Note 2 for the first session of Mass Events, which Seth-Jane gave a week ago, we’re having the front porch of our hill house rebuilt. [...]

[...] At 8:55, moving closer to that familiar dissociated state, approaching that psychological bridge which serves as a common meeting ground for Seth and herself she announced that she felt “a rather generalized idea of what Seth will say on the book stuff.” Less clear were some data about herself but she thought Seth would cover all of that along with his material on “Unknown” Reality. [...]

(In his material above, concerning Jane’s search for newer, larger frameworks of belief once she began to dispense with her old “comforting” ideas, Seth very lucidly dealt with certain aspects of the role she’s chosen for this life. [...] To some degree I’ve been involved in many changes of belief also, but I’m a participator in the development of the Seth Material, not its originator; the pressures and challenges weren’t — aren’t — as demanding. [...]

10. This material immediately reminded me that before the session tonight Jane and I had discussed Seth’s promise to answer the two questions I’d posed for him before sessions 698–99, in Volume 1. The question of interest here (I summarized them both in the notes following the 699th session) had to do with my inability to comprehend an “unconscious” species state. Not that I thought Seth was going out of his way to deal with such concepts tonight, but by the time he was through with his material on the sleepwalkers, I thought he’d considered at least one possible facet of my inquiry.

(Jane expressed a desire to see the work in place, so when I picked her up at the gallery we stopped off at the club to see it, where Jane made the impromptu remark that she wanted Seth to call off the session, so we could attend the opening of the club this evening.

[...] I described to her a vivid dream I had recently had involving my father, in the hopes that Seth would discuss it. [...]

(“Good evening, Seth.”)

[...] It will also be recalled that in several different sessions Bill was counseled by Seth to live alone, lest he suffer a recurrence of his lung trouble.)

(I told Jane that I think Seth’s material on the animals’ sense equivalents of human civilizations is the best of its kind I’ve ever heard — most evocative indeed. I hope Seth comes through with more on the subject before he finishes Mass Events.)

(This evening’s session was of average length for recent ones — lasting about an hour and a half, including break — but Seth devoted only the first short portion of it to Mass Events.)

(“Good evening, Seth.”)

[...] Those “notes,” however, dealing with other matters, ran for several more pages before Seth said good night at 10:38 P.M.

(It will be remembered that in the 87th session of September 14, 1964, Seth began an interpretation of Jane’s dream of September 7. The ramifications from this dream are still spreading. Seth again dealt with this dream in the 93rd session, of September 30. [...]

[...] Jane was dissociated as usual, and also quite relieved at Seth’s explanation. She had begun using her old typewriter for first drafts of her writings since leaving the gallery a few weeks ago, with the idea that since we do all the Seth material work on this machine, which is the best of the three we own, some wear and tear might be saved on it.

(So, since there was some kind of discrepancy here between what Seth at least considered a possibility, and the fact that Marie had not been giving birth, we naturally wondered what was correct, and hoped the session tonight would deal with it.

(“Good evening, Seth.”)

[...] While Seth was talking I kept writing, of course, in order to get the material for future reference. [...] Jane was already doing so, her eyes shut; I didn’t know whether Seth had left again or not. [...]

(At 9:20 PM Jane said she “felt Seth around. [...]

(“Good evening, Seth.”)

[...] Seth has referred to Nabene a few times, and my role as a record keeper and teacher. [...]

(“Good afternoon, Seth.”)

(“Good afternoon, Seth. [...]

Within Seth’s concept of simultaneous time, the treasured images in this gallery are fine examples of how the “past” lives in the “present” and in the “future.”

With much humor, Jane as Seth made a point during a session in 1969. [...]

[...] Then today I opened a package that contained a book of trance material similar to Seth’s. I guess I’m supposed to say thanks and that it’s great, to the publisher and the medium. [...]

[...] Valid enough, perhaps, but lacking original insight and individuality like the Seth material has.

(“Good afternoon, Seth.”

(Seth meant the Pocket Book edition of The Further Education of Oversoul Seven, which had arrived from Prentice-Hall last night — nine copies.

[...] So far, Seth has explained six of these. (Several years later, Jane was to list nine such inner senses in Chapter 19 of The Seth Material.) Jane said that upon coming slowly awake from her nap she’d had the very peculiar feeling of ‘growing larger.’ The laughing phrase she used was that she’d felt as ‘big as an elephant.’ Her boundaries of awareness seemed to have expanded. [...]

[...] Her first massive sensations in March [estimated], 1962, were followed by these phenomena in 1963: our York Beach experiences in August; her reception of Idea Construction in September; her massive feelings in October [estimated]; the outline she produced for ESP Power [or The Coming of Seth] as a result of the Idea Construction adventure; and the beginning of these sessions in November, through our trying certain experiments listed in that outline [as Jane explains in Chapter 1 of The Seth Material]. [...]

(In my notes preceding the 39th session for March 30, 1964, I described the first massive state Jane experienced after beginning the Seth sessions. [...]

(In that 39th session, Seth confirmed that Jane had been experimenting with one of the inner senses. [...]

(We’ve held only three private, or deleted, sessions since Seth came through with the last regular one [the 885th] almost six weeks ago. I just wish I could present those sessions here, for in them Seth gave us much valuable information—not only about ourselves [including Jane’s somewhat impaired physical condition, her “stiffness”], but about the myriad interchanges occurring constantly between our inner and outer realities, or Frameworks 1 and 2, as he calls them. [...]

1. Since according to Seth something like a basic religious awareness has always been with mankind, Seth here indicates a few historical and mythological signposts of that intuitive understanding.

3. Jane gave Seth’s partial list of the inner senses in Chapter Nineteen of The Seth Material, which was published back in 1970.

[...] She’s progressed with the subject matter for it to the point where Seth could remark on November 21: “The book of love poetry is an excellent idea.” [...]

(Seth finished dictating his last book, The “Unknown” Reality: A Seth Book, three months ago, in the 744th session for April 23. [...] As soon as I realized why she was holding off, I decided to put her back to work on the Seth material, even though she hasn’t yet finished her own Psychic Politics.

(So it seemed that we were about to get underway with another excellent production from Seth, with Jane’s considerable — indeed vital — help. I understood that she might be a little concerned about his starting a new book on such short notice; but on the other hand, I had no doubt at all that Seth — and Jane — could do it. [...]

(At supper time this evening I told Jane that tonight she was going to  start dictating a new book for Seth, the “energy personality essence” for whom she speaks while she’s in trance — and that she was going to do the notes also. [...]

[...] And I’m not ready for either of the books Seth has mentioned doing — the Christ book, or the one he talked about last month, on cultural reality. [...]

(She also thought of a chapter in Seth’s new book, one that was titled “Food and You” — then found herself stewing about saying something wrong in the book and leading people astray — more signs of old habits. “But then,” she said, “I told myself to trust myself and Seth, and I said to hell with it.”

(In yesterday’s session, Seth said that “new developments concerning the insurance situation are occurring, to your benefit.” [...]

[...] She said that last night she’d had a brief blue period, in which she’d wondered if she’d ever walk out on the street again, but got herself out of it by saying “cancel” to herself, and remembering Seth’s material.

(“The same to you, Seth.”)

(Seth withdrew. [...] Seth suddenly spoke:)

(Seth withdrew, and as break was starting and Jane began coming out of trance, Florence, shaking her fingers after writing for so long, made a comment that she wished the tape recorder was here. Seth immediately broke back in.)

(Seth withdrew. Jane seemed to have a hard time coming out of trance and Sally touched her shoulder and said, “Jane, are you coming back?” Seth came through abruptly.)

[...] (Florence tried to smother a cough and Seth boomed out.) You may cough to your heart’s content. [...]

(In the 586th session, earlier in this chapter, Seth stated that by the year 2075 the third Christ — Paul or Saul — would have enacted the Second Coming, exerting of course a profound effect upon religion and world history. [...] She wanted me to ask Seth if she had distorted this data while delivering it.

(Readers of The Seth Material had asked Seth to elaborate upon data of the three Christs given in Chapter Eighteen, “The God Concept,” of that book. [...]

(I was finding Seth’s information intensely interesting. It was unavoidable in many cases, but Jane said she much preferred not to know anything about the historical period Seth would be discussing. [...]

(“Good evening, Seth.”)

From 1963 until 1966, Rob and I worked alone, holding the twice-weekly sessions and following Seth’s instructions. I had several spontaneous out-of-body experiences during Seth sessions and while doing the exercise Seth calls psy-time. These checked out in physical reality and are recorded in my book, The Seth Material. Some of these episodes concerned strangers who had written to me. [...]

[...] I was incredulous at the instructions and information given by Seth, yet I’d already had enough experience to know that Seth’s “theoretical material” worked. [...]

[...] Yet for periods at a time, I just concentrate on the Seth sessions, with Seth on the one side of reality and Rob on the other — two good guardians. [...]

Following Seth’s instructions, I was learning to recognize when I was dreaming while I was dreaming, manipulate dream events if I wanted to, leave my body and separate halluncinations from reality.

2. See Note 1 for the 727th session; it contains references to two sessions on the fetus, as Jane excerpted them for The Seth Material. Now see the 557th session for Chapter 13 of Seth Speaks; Seth presented additional information on the various ways reincarnating personalities associate themselves with the fetus. [...]

(For pretty obvious reasons as far as we’re concerned, Jane and I prefer that Seth hold his book sessions in private, although Seth himself is more flexible here than we are. [...]

Seth has briefly referred to astrology a few times over the years. [...] For the moment, then, Jane and I think that Seth’s material on astrology in this 729th session (and, it soon developed, in the 730th) can serve as his answer to those who have asked for his opinion about it.

6. See the 565th session as it’s continued in Chapter 16 of Seth Speaks. Seth talked about the myriad probable actions available to any self. [...]

(Seth-Jane’s delivery soon had me writing along at a very brisk pace in order to keep up.)

(Seth had told us last time that he was near the end of the chapter, but we hadn’t realized of course that he was to finish it with a sentence or two in the next session. [...]

[...] I was getting ready to leave when I asked Jane if she wanted Seth to return and talk about her discomfort with gas, which was persisting. [...] Her Seth voice was strong if subdued. [...]

(“The same to you, Seth.”)

[...] I read the session to Jane, then checked it again to make sure I understood what Seth was saying. [...]

(Seth made his remark about checking the sessions because I’d said earlier this afternoon that I wanted to go over some of them with Jane. [...]

[...] Toward the end of the session she received a feeling, a concept, from Seth to the effect that she shouldn’t feel bad at the short session. Seth, she said, thought it “cute,” and “silly,” that we should be so concerned, when we have all the time we need to get all the information we want.)

[...] Seth called this one a semi-trance. [...]

[...] This is a sign Seth said to be alert for, in the 130th session. [...]

[...] Seth.”)

1. Seth is right, of course. [...] My stomach has been knotting up because I’m stewing over the reactions of those in charge at Prentice-Hall to Seth’s material in Mass Events about medical matters.
