[...] “If we’d had any inkling of what we were getting into with the Seth material, I’d never have done it,” Jane said. She meant that she wouldn’t have become associated with “the cheap psychic field,” not that she’d have given up working with the Seth material. [...] I asked her just how one could go about speaking for a personality like Seth, yet remain aloof from all of the psychic playing going on around us. [...]

(Pause.) You are, I hope, coming toward a time of greater psychological synthesis, so that the intuitions and reasoning abilities work together in a much more smooth fashion, so that emotional and intuitive knowledge regarding the meaningfulness of life can find clearer precision and expression, as the intellect is taught—as the intellect is taught—to use its faculties in a far less restricted manner.

(Sometimes I become a bit puzzled as I prepare Seth’s material for publication. [...] I do not like to change Seth’s information, and almost always avoid doing so.)

(10:40.) To some extent or another, your intuitions acquaint you with the fact that you have your own place in the universe, and that the universe itself is well-disposed toward you. The intuitions speak of your unique and vital part in the fabric of that universe. The intuitions know that the universe bends in your direction. [...]

[...] “Maybe I got tired this afternoon, working on the Intro for ‘Unknown.’ I’ve had messages from Seth the last few days about the book stuff for the session tonight, but what we got doesn’t fit any of them…. [...]

The ego itself in many instances cannot experience directly certain intuitions and psychological experiences, but it can experience them insofar as it can be aware of them on an intellectual basis. When training forces the ego to become too rigid, and to limit its perception of other realities, then the intuitions will not be accepted by the ego because intuitional experience will not fit into the framework of reality as the ego sees it.

(Jane has decided to use the passages on unlimited human potentialities, given by Seth in the last session, to close out her ESP book.

(10:31 P.M. Seth’s last remark, which I took to be rather humorous, reflected one of the reasons for Jane’s upset before the session: the conflict she feels between having just book sessions versus obtaining Seth material on at least a few of the other subjects we always have in mind. [...] Seth has given some answers in a couple of sessions, and we want more. [...]

1. Seth’s earliest material on EE (electromagnetic energy) units came through in September and October of 1967; in the Appendix of The Seth Material, see the excerpts Jane presented from sessions 504 through 506. Then in Chapter 20 of Seth Speaks, see Session 581 for April 14, 1971.

[...] Her manner was both funny and understandably sharp when I asked her if she had any questions for Seth tonight. [...]

[...] This was an intuitive breakthrough on your part, and highly encouraged him. [...]

[...] Your sharing of the intuitive feeling however was extremely important and of great benefit. [...]

(Although in retrospect I don’t quite understand what Seth meant.)

The crisis would have developed on the condition that Ruburt tried to use and develop his spontaneous and intuitive abilities on an adult basis. [...]

His necessary job was to combine the two, for in him the intuitions and intellect are both strong. [...]

So I am the Seth that is beyond the Seth that you know. And in me the knowledge and vitality of that Seth still rings. In your terms, I am a future Seth. [...]

(Notes by Rob: Some of Seth’s voice effects were very loud. I heard Seth rather clearly through 2 closed doors after I had retired. [...]

[...] I do not want an attitude that says, “Is this it?” I want an intuitive feeling on your part and a recognition. Do you intuitively feel that that is a portrait of Bega? [...]

(Here Seth refers to the check for $7,500 that Jane recently received from Prentice-Hall as half her payment for the paperback rights of Seth Speaks. [...]

[...] Ruburt’s brains however gave him much more leeway than his mother’s beauty gave her, and his intellect came with a counterpart—an intuitional and psychic counterpart that enriched it and kept it from becoming bitter or even ingrown.

“Seth straddles many of these points and appears in the dream levels of others at their personal symbol level. [...] This intersection of Seth-Jane in trance also happens in dreams, when book sessions occur there. Sometimes there is some separation, though, as when I’m aware of Seth giving me material … Seth is an ancient entity, however. [...]

3. In Note 2 for Session 688, I quoted Seth briefly on the meaning he attached to the word “camouflage” (in 1970). Jane’s use of it here in her own material was rather unusual, however, and took us way back to the first time we heard it from Seth, in the 16th session for January 15, 1964.

[...] I’ve barely mentioned them in recent notes — just for sessions 696 and 698 — but Seth has had a good deal to say about them in current personal material.] Many of the dreams have been quite long and involved. [...]

(Seth dwelt on the taxicab symbol, and as he did so I found myself hoping that Peggy would notice it. We have wondered before about Seth making statements concerning something that might be in the presence of the subject for the test, only to have the subject fail to notice it. [...] Seth described a certain rowboat with initials and a symbol on its bow; but since Bill failed to notice rowboats in general, we were at a loss as to the accuracy of Seth’s information. Seth did insist that this particular boat had been in Bill’s close vicinity.

[...] The intuitions try to perceive action as a whole. The ego breaks down for purposesof examination, the intuitions construct. Both the ego and the intuitions, in performing their functions, obviously create action. [...]

[...] To sum up first, we saw that Seth had used the name of the artist who had executed the block print, Roy Fox, as a starting point for data involving Jane and Roy and me, but for some reason had not dealt with the test object itself. We do not know why this happened, since Seth did not discuss the results this evening. Jane’s mother and a Christmas present also entered the test data, for reasons we do understand; here Seth tells us that Ruburt thinks of the package that his mother sent him.

(Lately, since his return from Cape Cod, Bill has had a few twinges in his lung, a mild return of the trouble dealt with by Seth in some detail in the 56th session, May 25, 1964, page 110. In the 68th session, page 218, July 6, 1964, Seth stated that unless Bill took certain steps the lung trouble would return. [...]

[...] We had discussed with Bill the additional information Seth gave in the last session concerning the boat with a symbol on it, supposedly visible to Bill from this particular seaside room in Provincetown, but Bill is not able to recall the craft in question. Seth had also mentioned this boat in the 68th and 75th sessions.)

[...] You should see to it that your self-discipline follows the dictates of intuition. If you will excuse the comment, Ruburt is either all self-discipline or all intuition.

[...] Improvements come as the personality learns intuitively, you see, having nothing to do with time in a basic manner. An intuitive grasp may come suddenly with an equally fast disappearance of blocks of symptoms. The spontaneous self is being allowed more freedom now, this is the source of the intuitional understanding.

[...] They are actually exercises in the spontaneous release of the intuitive portion of the self. [...]

(3. I asked that Seth continue his material on the waking-sleeping patterns of the species on a global scale. [...] Seth does discuss the question tonight, and rather than break up this session by making it half regular and half deleted, I’ve inserted the proper notes in the 796th and 800th sessions to refer the reader to this deleted session. [...]

[...] There is often nothing to be checked in it against physical reality in a concrete manner, for the message is intuitional and internal. People like poetry as a rule in your society only when it is dealing with conventional subjects, or directly with nature, so that in a way, now, the intuitions are used “to a rational end.”

(I had more questions for Seth:

[...] I believe that thick, sprawling works like “Unknown” Reality offer some important answers, but beyond that it’s up to the multidimensional, multitudinous, over four billion multinational individuals on this planet to follow their own intuitions and seek answers in their personal ways. Lots of those people will never hear of the Seth material — nor, as Seth himself has said, will they ever need to — but then, Jane and I know that some will, and so we proffer what we can.

According to Seth, each of us chose such a course at this time — but now, we think, a time of imperative change is necessary if we are to continue our progress as a species. A new blending of inner and outer consciousnesses — a new, more meaningful coalition of intellectual and intuitive abilities — will be the latest step in the process of “consciousness knowing itself,” as Seth has described it.

[...] In fact, Seth’s material always raises more questions to stimulate the intellect and intuitions, and these two books are no exception. [...]

[...] I didn’t ask Seth to clear anything. [...] I felt intuitively that both sets of symptoms represented doing things that encountered resistance; my own symptoms seemed very instructive in this respect.

[...] As stated this creed grew out of the last, 584th session for May 3, 1971, Seth Speaks, pages 321 and 322, where Seth discussed the ego’s fear of being swamped by strong creative abilities, etc. [...]

[...] Jane has already learned that she doesn’t want to do merely psychic, Seth books, like the Edgar Cayce series, for instance—from her own work on the creed. [...] It doesn’t really matter that the Seth material is excellent, etc. [...]

[...] The stories by Peg Gallagher dealt with the origin of the Seth material, Seth himself, and quotes from various sessions as well as the way the material is gathered, etc. The photos were of Jane and of the painting I did, in oil, of Seth.

(Strictly speaking, these episodes could be called seances, since they were given by Jane herself rather than Seth. [...] We didn’t insist that Seth discuss this material this evening, instead merely saying we had much to learn here.

[...] The painting I’ve done of Seth hangs on an inside wall of our living room. Jane saw Seth’s painting move, intact, to and then through our large center window in the living room.

(As today passed Jane picked up from Seth—and herself—material on the events of yesterday afternoon, so that finally she had an idea at least of what Seth would discuss tonight. [...]

(Jane also through the day received from Seth some material in answer to my remarks at breakfast this morning about the jacket colors chosen for Volume 2 of “Unknown” Reality. [...]

[...] “It must be because of what I know Seth’s going to talk about,” she said between coughs. [...]

(As Jane and I worked with the pendulum on Thursday morning, May 8, I thought of two questions for Seth that we’d never asked him before. [...]

[...] I asked that Seth comment.

[...] We asked that Seth comment on the whole idea of inspiration for her, beyond material he’s already given.

This intuitional alertness carries over into daily life and into the sleeping state. Through instructions given by Seth I’ve learned to come fully awake while dreaming, as mentioned earlier. [...]

What Seth is saying here is that the inner self uses this sense to initiate the birth of one of its personalities in physical life. [...]

[...] Seth spoke about some of the benefits in the recorded session he gave for the college psychology class. [...]
