“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

Now Nebene was aroused whenever the abilities showed themselves most spontaneously in Ruburt. Ruburt recognized the Nebene within you when first you met. Jane was dancing quite spontaneously, incidentally, and to boot somewhat tipsy. She felt you aloof and disapproving of the waste of energy, watching but not swept along as the other males were. A part of you enjoying the performance but a part, Nebene, critically wondering about the undisciplined use of such energy.

Here Nebene within you rushed to your aid. He was appalled that your ability, while disciplined, lacked the intent and purpose, the search for truth and meaning, he felt being adulterated. Ruburt, with high youthful ideals, a strong sense of purpose, then came into the picture. He was accepted by you and by Nebene. Nebene felt the purpose would save your abilities.

The Nebene characteristics came particularly to the fore in the transcription of my book of course, and with the encounter with your friend Sue. Nebene was furious that Ruburt would not speak for him. Nebene wanted to speak through Ruburt, knowing his abilities, and Ruburt refused.

(The sketch of Nebene is rather successful and would make a good painting. [...] I was quite surprised to find two days later, in the New York Times for September 12, a photograph that contained strong resemblances to my drawing of Nebene’s pendant: an Egyptian pendant possibly dating from around the time of King Tutankhamen, circa 1355 BC. [...] Nor do we know that much about the circumstances of the Nebene life to begin with. I thought it interesting that Nebene’s land, Jerusalem, say, was geographically next door to Egypt, and not great in physical distance, as far as miles go.

Now with you and Nebene the same occurs in time—a channel opens up as surely, through which images, ideas, and interchanges can occur. It is interesting that you picked up an older Nebene than earlier, for the elder Nebene, if disillusioned, was also more open than earlier, and more gentle of disposition.

Now: Nebene traveled extensively in early years. [...] Nebene and you influence each other because you operate in Framework 2 in the work areas of your lives. [...]

[...] During break I wrote three-quarters of a page “from” Nebene. [...] My copy of this part of the 813th session is attached to my Nebene material on file.

[...] When you read the reincarnational information, (about the Roman captain on September 12, 1977), it triggered the Nebene material because of your own personal situation at the time—your mood, and so forth (on September 20, 1977). [...]

When you write the Nebene material you see how quickly it comes, once a path is opened. [...]

[...] Some of these extreme reactions on Ruburt’s part were brought about by his psychic understanding of Nebene, so he could not adequately communicate with you. If you reacted as Nebene you would later rationalize the results to him—while he would know in that (underlined) instance he was not projecting so he could not trust his reactions toward you.

When you showed impatience with his progress it was sometimes a natural impatience, and sometimes Nebene’s dissatisfaction with a student who should, with those abilities, do better. [...]

[...] If you or Nebene ever thought that objective details were important then see how important Ruburt thinks subjective ones area. [...]

At the same time, the existence of the Nebene characteristics served to bring to your attention the Josef characteristics. Nebene to some extent then was a trigger of creativity. The realization of Nebene would automatically lead you to question, to bring to your conscious attention characteristics that otherwise you may not have recognized; blocks to your creativity, and yet strong drives toward the nature of truth, from which your creativity also springs.

It is therefore no coincidence that Richard was a student of Nebene’s, and the material on the reincarnational aspects (that Jane gave in ESP class last night) is quite correct. In so helping Ruburt, he (Richard) is also paying back a service to Nebene, for he owed him much.

For Nebene’s being was deeply involved with the search for truth. Nebene’s students are also coming back to say hello—

We have not discussed the hidden Nebene-like characteristics of Ruburt’s personality. They are, as Nebene’s were, the result of a comparatively narrow, rigid focus, conscientiously embarked upon, and carried the same kind of restrictive “holy cause” charge.

They were meant to regulate creativity, as Nebene’s characteristics were. [...] These characteristics were also brought to activity in response to your own Nebene tendencies. [...]

[...] It was the correlation between the Nebene characteristics and Ruburt’s Nebene-like characteristics that helped keep affairs stirred up for some time.

[...] There were many such villages in the mountains in the overall times of Nebene and your Roman soldier, and they were much in character like the villages recently destroyed in the earthquake. [...]

[...] The people compared themselves to the rest of the world at times, and many of the young were beginning to leave, but those villages were, again, very like those in the times of Nebene and the Roman soldier. [...]

[...] It was one that Nebene knew of and respected, where the Roman soldier scoffed at what even then he considered the old ways. [...]

(During the 618th session, which Dick and Eleanor witnessed, and during which I manifested the Nebene characteristics by quizzing Jane about reincarnational data for Dick and Eleanor, Jane also “saw” Nebene by my chair—as she had on the previous occasion some months ago when Sue Watkins was present. This time, Jane said, Nebene had changed; his face was less pinched and narrow and demanding, more open, etc.)

(Seth later said my question to Jane was Nebene speaking. [...]

Now he was a student of yours, as Nebene.

The Nebene characteristics, now creatively used, then also mitigated against Ruburt’s easy expression of such feelings, and he did tie up some characteristics of Nebene with his mother’s scorn. [...]

[...] The urge to learn, perhaps overdone, may be one of the Nebene characteristics, [and as an aside I thoroughly wish the Nebene character did not exist.] But regardless of that, I didn’t think my wish to excel in my chosen field necessarily a poor one. [...]

The “constant interaction” that Seth mentioned as involving myself, Nebene, the Roman soldier, and the black woman, Maumee, obviously takes place on other-than-usual conscious levels — at least in my case, that is. For while I was having experience as the Roman, for instance, I had no feeling for Nebene, or Maumee — no idea of reincarnation, or of counterparts either. [...]

[...] He previously had experience that convinced him that he was a man called Nebene.⁹ All of this could have been accepted quite easily in conventional terms of reincarnation, but Joseph felt that Nebene and the Roman soldier had existed during the same general time period, and he was not sure where to place the woman (but see Note 1).

[...] So Joseph “was” Nebene, a scholarly man, not adventurous, obsessed with copying ancient truths, and afraid that creativity was error; authoritative and demanding. [...]

[...] Instead of telling us about it, Seth’s letting me feel the emotions of that young girl you were involved with when you were Nebene, at the time of Christ....” [...] The girl’s name was Sharabena, and she was Jane in that life as I was Nebene.

[...] Your Nebene material is excellent, and shows the development of your own abilities psychically and creatively.

[...] And not only that — as a man called Nebene I’d spent part of my life in Rome itself. Seth referred to Nebene in the 721st session also.⁹ Here too, through that individual, the ramifications of authority are confronted again; if in a way less drastic than one involving death, still certainly in a very dogmatic manner, as expressed through Nebene’s rigid personality. [...] I feel (as Seth mentioned in the 721st session) that I wasn’t Nebene, or two different Roman soldiers per se, but rather that my whole self chose to manifest such personalities together; that I, too, am such a manifestation at a “later” time, then, and that from my own vantage point I can tune in to those other lives. [...] Was the monk Nebene—me when I was a very strict teacher of the children of rich Romans in first-century A.D. Italy? [...] In volume 2 of Personal Sessions see the Nebene material in the deleted session of July 17, 1972.

[...] Your interest in painting and your abilities do not only spring from the Denmark life, for example, but also arose out of your quite legitimate life as Nebene, when you were focused upon the visual symbols and their correct inscription. [...]

You were, as Nebene, extremely stern with your students, concerned that they not fall into carelessness. [...]

[...] The reincarnation dream (see the end of the session), however, had to do with Nebene, who resented any tribute paid to Rome, and was enraged by the crooked practices of all the tax collectors. [...]

(10:47.) The tax man is a well-meaning individual, far from a rogue, with his own problems, and in the dream this information is realized by you, and hence picked up by Nebene. [...]

Your information was quite correct, regarding Nebene. [...]

[...] Without thinking, I casually remarked that currently I had three things going reincarnationally¹ — involving the Roman soldier, the black woman, and Nebene — and that if I could untangle their time sequences, I could use them as part of a chronological list of my “past” lives.

[...] What I’m getting is that the idea of just one life in any given time is bullshit — the psyche is so rich that it can have more than one life in one time period, like your Nebene and Roman soldier living together in the first century. [...]

[...] The idea of trying to reach a future self has been with me for some three and a half years, though, or since I first encountered Nebene, that male personality who inhabits a distant niche in my psychic past.
