“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

(I also asked if Seth could comment on my dream of Mrs. Johnson that I’d had last November, 1978. I showed Jane the pencil sketch of Mrs. Johnson that I’d done at the time. I’ve written my own longer notes explaining why I couldn’t find my account of the dream—I believe I simply forgot to write it down—but since I remembered it well I described the dream to Jane now. I plan to do a small oil painting or two of the sketch I’ve done of Mrs. Johnson, plus another image of her that I hadn’t drawn at the time, but retain well.

Then give us another moment.... Ruburt’s chain of association gave the name Patterson because of an old song. The [name] Johnson brings in the woman’s sense of strength, and yet says that she is of ordinary heritage—a person of the earth, a powerful person in her way—and the connections with your associations have to do with the late President Johnson. Behind all of his carryings-on there was a strong quality of compassion that he found most difficult to express.

(“Well, I’d called her Mrs. Johnson.” I reminded Seth. In trance, leaning forward, Jane stared at me, momentarily quiet.)

(9:44. “Sorry about that.” Jane said in reference to her substituting Mrs. Patterson for Mrs. Johnson while in trance. She said the Patterson connection was from an old song—perhaps a Beatle title—having to do with “Oh, Mrs. Patterson,” or something like that.

The place in question is located within a few blocks of the neighborhood to which my family moved in 1931, as described in Note 1. Since it sits on one of the main streets of Sayre, at a busy corner, I know that I must have passed by it many times in subsequent years; yet I’d never noticed the house as an individual entity until Jane and I walked up to its front door with the Johnsons. When the Johnsons told us who the owners were, I could only reply that I’d heard the name while living in Sayre; the old couple would be contemporary with my mother. [...]

The real estate couple (the Johnsons) were also connected. [...]

[...] There are more “coincidences” involved than those Seth described tonight, none of them consciously known to Jane and me before the Sayre adventure: Mr. Markle is in a nursing home but a few miles from where we live in Elmira, and my mother spent her last days in a similar home less than 15 miles away; one of Mr. Markle’s children lives in Elmira, and is connected with a store Jane and I have visited; Mr. Johnson, of the real estate couple that conducted us about in Sayre, did sign painting and truck lettering as a younger man, as I did; he and I had several mutual acquaintances in Sayre, among them an older artist of some reputation — and now deceased — that we had known in our high school days; and so forth.

[...] We liked the Johnsons (although that isn’t their real name) at once. [...]

[...] For instance: When Jane and I “rediscovered” Mr. Markle’s house in Sayre today (February 17), and saw to our considerable surprise that it might still be for sale, we at once visited the Johnsons, who had shown us through it last year. We were then in for another surprise — for the Johnsons are the agents in charge of selling the Steins’ residence in Sayre.

[...] The Johnsons, the husband-and-wife real estate team who had taken us through Mr. Markle’s house in April 1974, gave us the objective information in this paragraph. [...]

[...] This note, then, will enlarge upon the fertile field of connections, or probabilities, that is enveloping Jane and me, the houses in Sayre and Elmira, the real estate agents we’ve been dealing with (the Johnsons and Debbie — who are not acquainted), and some other people.

[...] We looked at it today in passing after the Johnsons told us it was for sale; the truth is, we saw nothing about it that turned us on.

(For the past few days I’ve done little “creative” work, beyond working on my watercolor portrait of Mrs. Johnson, the subject of my dream of last November, for an hour or two in the mornings; then in the afternoons I’ve typed these sessions and written the required notes for the record. [...]

[...] Later, we were in a Howard Johnson’s restaurant in Oswego talking with the good doctor when I abruptly felt Seth about. [...]

I had no intentions of having a session in a Howard Johnson’s restaurant. [...]

[...] Your Howard Johnson’s. The dinner costing $4.75. [...]

3. The day after this (738th) session was held I wrote to the real estate agents in Sayre, the Johnsons, informing them that Jane and I were withdrawing any interest we had in the Markle house. [...]

[...] The manuscript of The Rule Book of Love: A Seth Book, is written on the back of heavy white stationery from Howard Johnson’s motor lodge in Coraopolis, PA, which may be near Philadelphia. [...]

(Sometime during the night while sleeping in Johnson Hall, a residence hall at Oswego State University College, I was awakened by some noisy students in a nearby hall. [...]

Now Johnson (the President) could also be in for some difficulty, in terms of health, and his heart. [...]

[...] Howard Johnson. [...]

[...] He has had drinks at a public establishment this evening, perhaps the Howard Johnson’s which you visited; and an affair at the college.

(We lunched with Dr. Instream at Howard Johnson’s, adjacent to the campus. [...]

Frank is also in real estate, although he has no professional associations with the Johnsons, Debbie, or the agency through which we bought the hill house. [...]
