“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

(“A Friday.” See the tracing of the note I enclosed with the beer can cap in the double envelopes, on page 86. The first line of my copy reads “Used Friday, Oct. 7/66.” This little note was written on Friday, October 7 also, after company left. [This session was held on Monday, October 10.]

(1st Question: What’s that about a Friday? “A Friday connected with the item. Perhaps a 7, or 17, day of the month. Or 7 PM.” Seth is quite correct. See the copy of the note on page 86. Friday, October 7,1966 is specifically mentioned on the note which was one of the two envelope objects. 7 PM doesn’t enter in however. Later note by RFB: Very good.

(See the previous pages for tracings of the two envelope objects used in the 73rd experiment this evening. The beer can cap was enclosed within my folded note; the note was written on white paper in the same color ink used to make the tracings. Both items came from a gathering of friends at our apartment last Friday evening, October 7. The dark color on the end of the tab is carbon black from a candle flame. I did this deliberately on Friday evening during the gathering, in full view of everyone, for at that moment I decided to use this cap as the envelope object for the session tonight. From Tuesday AM through Friday late afternoon—it seems that more or less constant softening and loosening of all moveable parts went on, particularly the gradual releasing of heavy ligament group in neck, right side. [...] Friday AM in particular. [...] Felt quite ambitious Friday AM. [...]

Friday afternoon and Saturday—As I worked on James, I massaged my head, which certainly seemed to help the neck and other areas. [...] But I had a good time Friday night with Gallaghers and slept well; and eyes did improve again. [...]

These particular events began Friday though now Monday afternoon I’ve nearly forgotten what Friday was really like. I do recall being awakened by Rob later Friday than usual. [...]

Most of the material disappeared instantly, like some dreams, but I did remember that Seth told me to stress pleasure over responsibility and that thought was in my mind as I fell to sleep Friday PM.

FRIDAY, JUNE 17, 1966

[...] This was correct according to the Wilburs on Friday night, June 17, but now I do not recall just how. [...]

My suggestions in that area, as per Fridays, were simply meant as an example. I was not suggesting each Friday, but some time set aside for sociality, not simply with the Gallaghers. [...]

[...] On the other hand, to some extent you squander the free time you have, for example, squandering your Friday evenings often—but not always. [...]

In your position, then, Friday night could be a time when your friends know you are available, free, and looking forward to sociability. [...]

(Then while doing the dishes before this evening’s session, Jane said she “got” that Friday night was the “playout” of my dreams involving Bill Gallagher and Sue, which had taken place separately. [...]

(“The word grand… a grandparent?” Our young friend Don Wilbur made the envelope object on his usual Friday night visit here with his wife Marilyn. [...] On Friday nights the parents of either Marilyn or Don take care of the little boy so Marilyn and Don can have a night a week free. [...]

(Last Friday at 2:45 PM I took Jane to the emergency room at St. Joseph’s to keep the appointment with Dr. Sobel from Ithaca, as set up by Dr. Kardon. [...]

[...] It wasn’t until we returned home Friday afternoon that I began to see how upset Jane had become by thoughts of arthritis, vasculitis, angiograms, clots, drugs, operations, etc. [...]
