[...] The material filled three pages, and Seth leads off tonight’s session with material relative to it. [...]
(“Good evening, Seth.”)
[...] Do you?” This was the first time I’d ever asked Seth if he had any questions we could answer. [...]
[...] Seth’s closing reference to a “sweet creature” was a reference to our sweet cat, Willy, who midway in the session had hopped up on the couch and snuggled himself tight against my left side as I took notes.)
(In the deleted session for April 16, 1979 Seth remarked that Jane “used to feel embarrassed because he made more money in those terms than you, and certainly this played some role initially in the symptoms.” I asked that Seth comment as to whether any such mechanisms might still operate with Jane.
[...] It also insisted I didn’t have a hernia or an ulcer, etc., although I told Jane that depending on what Seth said tonight I may seek medical help tomorrow. [...]
(“Good evening, Seth.”)
(I didn’t want Seth to leave before I asked this question: “Do you want to say something about your remark that Jane’s early symptoms were at least partly connected with her embarrassment at making more money than I did?”)
(Another question I’d meant to ask but forgot to list, had to do with our failure to do certain things, regardless of how often Seth mentioned them: viz.—using the hot towels, trying for the library, etc. Seth does go into those questions tonight.)
(I had several questions for Seth: they’d grown out of our activities in recent days, and I read them to Jane now.
(“Good evening, Seth.”)
[...] You see how your cat needed it (who stood in Jane’s lap as she spoke for Seth).
(Jane has been employing to good effect Seth’s suggestion about using the red star, as he gave that idea in the last deleted session. [...] For myself, I wanted Seth’s comments on the Spanish Framework 2 connections that he detailed last session, re Ryerson, Macdonnel, our books being translated, and the card from Carlos Smith; I wondered what had initiated any Framework 2 connections for us via Spain, since we had no interests of note there.
[...] Actually, it was a note from him to Prentice-Hall, asking for review copies of the Seth books, and that his note be forwarded to Jane. [...] This was before Seth began the Frameworks 1 and 2 material, I believe. [...]
(“Good evening, Seth.”)
(“Thank you, Seth. [...]
(“Good evening, Seth.”)
(As far as I can recall, this is the first time Seth has stated such an approach to a problem, explicitly; although in the past he has referred to various subjects by saying he was not well informed about them.)
(“Did you expect my father to go back home?” I meant: what did Seth think of my father going back home to live under mother’s care, from the hospital, instead of going to a nursing home, as we had all thought quite possible.)
[...] We’ve read over the last session several times, and have gone over Seth’s resolutions daily. [...]
(“Good evening, Seth.”)
(Jane delivered the above paragraph of material as Seth with much emphasis and conviction, as she has for much of this session. [...]
(“Do you want to give an example?” I asked Seth, but Jane went on speaking so smoothly that I wondered if he/she had heard the question.)
(I had three questions for Seth, following my promise at the end of the last deleted session to come up with some—and Jane had two. I’ll list them here so as to make them part of the records; and Seth deals with them all in tonight’s materials:
(“Good evening, Seth.”)
[...] The recent sale of Oversoul Seven to an English publishing house for an unbelievable $100, and Prentice’s recent notice to us of a possible sale of Seth Speaks for translation and publishing by a German house for only $300 bothered me greatly; I just couldn’t believe that so little money was available in Europe, no matter what Prentice told us. [...]
(I mention these points because Seth deals with them also this evening.)
[...] Seth had been doing well. [...] After I let the cat out she waited briefly, then decided to call it an evening before Seth could return. [...]
(“Good evening, Seth.”)
(Jane paused frequently here as she spoke for Seth. [...]
[...] She said she had the impression that the material from Seth was highly condensed and directed, aimed at the reader, that he was trying to get the ideas across as clearly and concisely as possible.
[...] Seth was pushing data at her, she said. She had no idea before the session as to what Seth would discuss; nor had she been reading about any such ideas as those presented tonight before the session.
(“Good evening, Seth.”)
(“Good night, Seth.”
[...] The “figure of lights” describes an apparition Jane recently experienced, at night, and we are interested in getting Seth’s explanation of it.)
(“Good evening, Seth.”)
[...] I was on the point of asking Seth what one should do when one confronted a fearful result even if one had constructed that result, etc.)
(Seth looked at me almost pityingly. [...]
(As usual, listening to Seth’s long list of negative items, I couldn’t help wondering why Jane didn’t appreciate the import of such actions at least intuitively, and do something about them.)
[...] Without Seth’s help we cannot see connections. As stated, Jane was present when the envelope object was shown to the Wilburs on their visit here; perhaps Seth was getting at the fact that Jane didn’t actually see the object that evening.
(“Good evening, Seth.”)
(Seth did not return, so Jane and I made our own connections.
[...] Thus part of the black border on the object, or the pattern on the shirt, would appear horizontal if Seth picked this data up in a somewhat literal way.
[...] “Boy, Seth, you better come up with some answers,” she said. [...] Seth finally interrupted us.)
(This was a real reaction from Seth. [...] I also thought that this might stem from Jane’s expressed feelings of anger and resentment before the session, and her demands that Seth help. [...]
[...] We were very disappointed that all of our recent efforts, in line with Seth’s suggestions, hadn’t resulted in any improvement.
[...] I also would like Seth to elaborate on the top paragraph on this page, about influences in the house. [...]
(Jane and I were pleased at Seth’s statement that no distortion did occur, but only a partial blocking. [...] We have had no trouble that I am aware of in clearing up any distortions we ask Seth about after the event.
(Talking about distortions during last break, I had been reminded that many sessions ago Jane-Seth had stated first that [my brother] Loren had been three times a woman, then three times a man in a following session. I had never asked Seth to clear up the contradiction.)
(“Good evening, Seth.”)
[...] Earlier today, rereading the 54th session, page 90, she had made the intuitive connection that Seth’s referral to the day May 23 twice did indeed refer to two separate events. [...]
