[...] The question I asked at its end—about what effects my opinions of Prentice-Hall might have had on Jane over the years—has been on my mind ever since I asked it, and Seth replied that it was “too big a subject” to go into at once. [...]

[...] I told her at the end of the day that the Seth material is an excellent example of her own direct cognition; this obvious description had come to me after I worked with Seth’s material on direct cognition in Chapter 6 of Dreams. [...]

(We haven’t talked a great deal about the probable ramifications inherent in the whole house episode — rather, we expected such concepts to operate if the Seth material has any validity. [...] Neither of us believes in chance or coincidence in usual terms, for instance — nor have we since Seth began discussing the elements behind such qualities some years ago. [...]

[...] “I was really out — he could have kept me under for four hours …” She explained that just before the session began she’d received glimmerings of the material to come, but hadn’t had time to tell me about it. Certainly neither of us bad expected Seth to go into the affair involving the two houses in Sayre.

[...] As we had requested that he do just before the session, Seth directed his final delivery to some other material for Jane and me. [...]

[...] We haven’t asked Seth what to do, and do not plan to. There are more “coincidences” involved than those Seth described tonight, none of them consciously known to Jane and me before the Sayre adventure: Mr. Markle is in a nursing home but a few miles from where we live in Elmira, and my mother spent her last days in a similar home less than 15 miles away; one of Mr. Markle’s children lives in Elmira, and is connected with a store Jane and I have visited; Mr. Johnson, of the real estate couple that conducted us about in Sayre, did sign painting and truck lettering as a younger man, as I did; he and I had several mutual acquaintances in Sayre, among them an older artist of some reputation — and now deceased — that we had known in our high school days; and so forth.

(Out on the porch tonight off and on I kept getting stuff from Seth but so normally and smoothly that only something Rob said later made me remember. [...] Rob said, “You must want a break in the routine-” and his remark brought Seth’s material back, though now I know I don’t remember it all. [...]

If you remember, it took a while for The Seth Material, with Prentice, to do well. [...]

It will take longer then for the general public than it did, for example, with The Seth Material hardcover, for several reasons.

[...] The two Bantam sales, for example, Material and Seth Speaks, served purposes for you and Ruburt, and Prentice as well.

[...] All of that material has a general appeal, however, and I wish I could show in a few words the variety and depth of Seth’s information.

Seth’s material largely opposes science’s mechanistic model of the body wearing down within certain age limits, abetted as that model is by the power of the beliefs that say it will. [...]

(On January 23 I mailed to our publisher Jane’s Introduction for Sue Watkins’s Conversations With Seth.

I told Jane she needn’t have a session if she wanted to paint, but that if she did go into trance I wouldn’t mind getting something from Seth on the dream I’d had early this morning. [...]

[...] John has witnessed quite a few sessions and read much of the Seth material. [...]

(Seth dealt with one of John’s past lives and his connection with medicine in an amusing way during the 21st session, of February 3,1964. [...] As soon as the door closed behind John, Seth went into a rather lengthy rundown on him, much to our surprise. [...]

On the other hand, I did watch with some amusement as the scene was enacted in a small room, and as the ghosts were supposed to materialize in the doorway. [...] In one of my more friendly moods, I might indeed have tried a materialization of my own that would have frightened the poor woman out of her wits.

(John agreed with Seth. [...] From what Seth said in the above delivery, John now believes he knows who the individual is who might be passing along information about him.)

(Jane’s question arose out of material in the 560th session in Chapter Fourteen: She wanted to know the name of the third personality making up the three-part Christ entity that Seth has postulated. [In Chapter Eighteen of Jane’s own book, The Seth Material, Seth gave as members of this entity Christ, of course, and John the Baptist.] I told Jane now that I thought Seth intended to go into this whole matter much more thoroughly later in this book.

(9:41.) What he sees, however, is still physical, the objects of the material world. [...] Into his inner mind come pictures or symbols of material objects, people or events, from perhaps the past as well as present and future imaginings, the joy now being expressed with greater freedom mentally, but with symbols.

[...] I wanted to be sure that the material given on the Speakers, so far, adequately dealt with the methods by which they were able to contact others in both the waking and dream states. [...]

(Many people have written or called us to ask about Seth’s unpublished data on Christ, Biblical events and times, but practically all such material has either been published verbatim or referred to. See Chapter Eighteen of The Seth Material besides Seth Speaks and this book.

(In a private session on September 3, Seth discussed some of the reasons behind Jerusalem’s unceasing fascination for certain segments of mankind. [...] Then in the next session — which concerned other subjects — Seth unexpectedly added this aside: “You can have more material on Jerusalem or Christ now, or when you want it. [...]

As I mentioned in Seth Speaks, the Christ entity was too great to be contained in any one man, or for that matter in any one time, so the man you think of as Christ was not crucified (See chapters Twenty-one and Twenty-two of Seth Speaks.)

(“Good evening, Seth.”

[...] And she replied that she could already feel the emotions connected with the Seth material today. [...]

[...] Jane’s Seth voice was stronger than usual. [...]

(“Good afternoon, Seth.”)

[...] Tell Ruburt I will begin book dictation again at our next session, including the material on “better and better pills.”

[...] I was upset because I felt it was all true, and because I’d felt like interrupting constantly as Seth was giving his material. [...]

(I should take a moment here to note that Seth has said this before, and that Jane has referred to it also. [...] Especially devastating is this when the material explains very clearly that things don’t have to be that way. [...]

[...] Seth’s material, and Frank’s, goes a long way toward easing her feelings of fright, for now we see that those feelings represented her—and my—misunderstanding of her own bodily functions as the body ceaselessly tries to right itself.)

(Jane said she’d like a session as soon as we’d finished a late supper—by 7:20 PM—and expressed the hope that Seth would deal with her immediate situation—sort of an emergency treatment. [...]

[...] In this one Seth for the first time mentioned that Jane should work full time at her writing. [...] This move was not dictated wholly by the Seth material, but certainly this played its part. [...]

[...] Remember thinking suddenly that Seth might say the following in tonight’s session: Material world of physical matter doesn’t actually exist as such at all, in a real sense. [...]

(By 8:55 PM Jane had no idea of the material for the session tonight, nor was she nervous.

(“Good evening, Seth.”)

(During the break Jane read over parts of Chapter Eighteen of The Seth Material, then announced that she thought there was a contradiction, between that material — originally from the 491st session on July 2, 1969 — on the three Christs, and the information given by Seth this evening. [...]

[...] Then I remembered that Seth hadn’t given headings for the first eight chapters of his book. [...] Could he give the headings now, or would Jane have to go over that early material first? [...]

(Jane preferred that Seth simply start in where he had left off on the chapter — a feat I was sure he was quite capable of. [...] She was strongly interested in seeing that Seth finished his book, although she still has to read most of it.

(There followed a short exchange between Seth and me, which isn’t recorded verbatim because it was too rapid. [...] Jane, as Seth, listened politely to my groping questions.)

[...] “Maybe I got tired this afternoon, working on the Intro for ‘Unknown.’ I’ve had messages from Seth the last few days about the book stuff for the session tonight, but what we got doesn’t fit any of them…. [...] It’s as though when the material’s good I expect that it should take more time to get, or something like that…. [...]

2. Jane and I are really looking forward to Seth’s material on man’s “misconceptions about the nature of good and evil.” [...]

(“Good evening, Seth.”

[...] He is very active now on other levels, and is putting our material to good use. [...]

2. See Note 1 for the 727th session; it contains references to two sessions on the fetus, as Jane excerpted them for The Seth Material. Now see the 557th session for Chapter 13 of Seth Speaks; Seth presented additional information on the various ways reincarnating personalities associate themselves with the fetus. [...]

Seth has briefly referred to astrology a few times over the years. [...] For the moment, then, Jane and I think that Seth’s material on astrology in this 729th session (and, it soon developed, in the 730th) can serve as his answer to those who have asked for his opinion about it.

I think that in his material from 10:17 to 10:25 here, Seth very neatly summarizes much of his thinking about how each of us constantly moves through a multitude of probable realities, meeting certain others in any one space-time environment, perceiving individual versions of any given event … Very useful information. [...]

(A Note added later: Sessions between the one above and the one below contain no Seth Material, but are instead sessions in which Jane received book-length and world-view material on the artist Rembrandt. [...]

[...] When she lay down for a nap yesterday afternoon she picked up from Seth hints of subjects he’s going to discuss in Dreams: “man migrations,” and “inside and outside cues” as pertaining to man’s consciousness. She hopes Seth will go into that material tonight. [...]

[...] It wasn’t until Jane began coming through with the ideas embodied in the Seth material that I began to question my “need” for glasses. [...]

[...] On that day Tam Mossman of Prentice-Hall called Sue Watkins to ask her permission to publish Conversations With Seth in two volumes; Sue’s account of Jane’s ESP classes is now too long for a single book. [...]

(I can offer a connection, but cannot verify it with Seth until next session. After this session I remembered that the Wilburs are reading what we call Book One of the Seth material. [...] My introductory notes contain a reference to Jane and me borrowing a Ouija board from our landlord “in the fall of 1963,” which compares with the date given by Seth this evening, of September 10,1963. [...]

[...] Presumably Seth refers to the writings she has sent out recently. Her publisher, F. Fell, has written expressing interest in her book on the Seth material and on the poetry book described in the 232nd session, page 269. [...] Seth said the article would sell.

(Seth goes over the envelope results with us to some extent this evening, and answers a few questions pertaining to such experiments. First however there follows the connections Jane and I made with the envelope object, and Seth’s data on page 306.

[...] We wanted to make up for the Dr. Instream experiment we missed on Monday, however, so before tonight’s session we mentioned aloud that we hoped Seth would deal with this.

(The swollen condition of her feet still concerned me, although I’ve kept in mind Seth’s material on that situation and feel better about it. [...] I only hoped Seth was correct about her feet, for indeed they’re more enlarged than ever, especially the right foot.

(Long pause.) The more stimuli, thoughts, desires and material of a diverse nature brought into the system—within reason—the greater the amount of material the inner self has to work with and put together in its own creative fashions—but do remember those sessions given that remind Ruburt that his body can indeed recover, that he can indeed trust his body’s processes, and that he should not compare his life with anyone else’s, but trust in the entire fabric of his existence, and you indeed should trust the entire fabric of your own. [...]

(The day after the last session I wrote down a question for Seth. [...]

(My viewpoint was that it was impossible for me not to have strong feelings about the situation, even though—as I said—I agreed that her paper was a highly creative piece of work, that it augured well for the future, and that it was so far easily the best material we’d gotten on the symptom affair. [...]

(A few more notes from the Mossman phone call to Jane today: Tam told Jane the book on the Seth material was practically a certainty; that is, as certain as one can get until a contract is signed. [...]

(In the 436th session Seth advised caution on Eve’s part in order to forestall or change the probabilities re this future accident. Seth described an older woman, about 35, with whom Eve rides, as possibly being involved in the accident as driver, and named certain days the accident was more likely to take place on. Today Tam Mossman confirmed that Eve does ride to work at Prentice-Hall with a woman fitting Seth’s description, including the age given; he said eve would ride with him on the specified days in order to alter the probabilities.

(Jane, as Seth, paused. Seth doesn’t allude very often to a subject in such a manner, so my curiosity was aroused. I knew Jane wasn’t at her best tonight, but thought it would be nice to get at least an inkling of what Seth was talking about. [...]

(Jane had a call from Tam Mossman at Prentice-Hall today, during which we obtained some confirmation on points made by Seth in a recent session. [...]
