TPS2 Deleted Session January 1, 1973 Adventures Eleanor Rich writer Tam

[...] Because he felt a responsibility to the work, and because of another publication—a hardcover book—he consented to The Seth Material. [...]

[...] Following The Seth Material, requests came that showed quite clearly he was regarded as a psychic. [...]

[...] In the beginning he did not want to publish the material, if you recall. Not because he did not like the material, but because then, at least, he understood that for him (underlined) assembling it during his creative hours was not fulfilling his kind of creative need.

[...] I mentioned three questions I hoped Seth would cover at least in part: Jane’s projected call to Tam at Prentice-Hall tomorrow morning, re substituting Seth’s new book for Adventures; Jane’s planned letter to Eleanor Friede about Rich Bed; and whether Jane should continue with ESP class.

UR2 Appendix 15: (For Session 710) gurus untruth Eastern mystical philosophy

(Being individualists, then, as I wrote in the Introductory Notes for Volume 1, we don’t concentrate upon whatever parallels exist between Seth’s concepts on the one hand and those of Eastern religious, philosophical, and mystical doctrines on the other; while we know of such similarities, we’re just as aware of how different from them Seth’s viewpoint can be, too. I added that even though we have no interest in putting down other approaches to inner reality, still we’re firm believers in the “inviolate nature of the individual consciousness, before, during, and after physical existence, in ordinary terms.”1 So, here, we leave it up to the reader to make the intuitive and overt connections between Seth’s philosophy and the material Jane wrote today. [...]

[...] Jane’s quick and impassioned response through her own writing, as presented below, reflects feelings deeply rooted within her mystical nature, and also illuminates important aspects of the body and direction of the Seth material as a whole. [...]

2. From any of Seth’s books — let alone Jane’s — I could cite a number of comments that question much of the thinking behind different Eastern systems of religious thought. Seth, for example, in the 642nd session in Chapter 11 of Personal Reality: “You will not attain spirituality or even a happy life by denying the wisdom and experience of the flesh. [...]

1. In Volume 1 of “Unknown” Reality, see the material on Jane, mysticism, and religion in the Introductory Notes, the 679th session, and Appendix 1 for that session. [...]

TPS4 Deleted Session July 17, 1978 accident death family killed tragedy

[...] For my part, although I believe Seth’s contention that there are basically no accidents, I was still torn between understanding of that premise, and outrage that a young drunk could wreak such havoc on a seemingly innocent family of seven people. [...] I thought it a classic example that could be explained in Seth’s terms, though—the type of new information that at least could try to make sense out of such seemingly random happenings that we see as so tragic. In that way, then, my discussion of the event touched upon pretty basic premises of the Seth material.

[...] Jane’s delivery had been fast and sure throughout, the material unexpected but excellent. It would be most interesting, I told Jane, if eventually we could manage to check out some of Seth’s material on the surviving members of the family discussed this evening—after the wounds had healed, and provided any of them would be willing to talk about what had happened. [...]

(Also during break, I’d told her I’d found myself stewing rather often about the reception of Seth’s material by the world at large, and science in particular. [...]

(Today Jane heard from Tam that Prentice-Hall had signed a contract with a Dutch publisher for a translation of Seth Speaks into that language. [...] Tam told Jane that at our request he’d checked with John Nelson, who in turn had checked the contract with the Swiss publisher, to the effect that the German-language translation of Seth Speaks is definitely not to be cut, as that particular publisher had wanted to do a couple of years ago. So the two foreign-language editions of that book are certainly good news —the kind that Seth wants Jane to list daily, as he suggested she do. [...]

TPS2 Deleted Session September 18, 1972 Susskind negotiating congratulations show excuse

(This afternoon Jane received a royalty check from Prentice-Hall for $819.00, covering sales to June 30 of The Seth Material, hard and soft cover, and the first copies of Seth Speaks. [...]

[...] As we sat talking in Jane’s studio she eventually said that Seth was around. The notebook was handy, so I told her to go ahead if she wanted to let Seth come through. [...]

(“Thank you Seth.”)

[...] Released now in that direction, and convinced he is “right,” you will be astounded at the financial benefits, and material ones. [...]

TPS5 Session 887 (Deleted Portion) December 5, 1979 Danahers Ariston stretching impulses overemphasized

[...] She’s been rereading Seth’s material for her on Framework 2, the necessity for trust in herself, etc. [...]

[...] I suggested that we could go back to the old session routine of having a break halfway through, thus dividing book material from personal stuff that way, but she didn’t seem to think much of the idea, nor did it develop this evening.

(Even when the session was held, Jane’s delivery as Seth was for the most part rather quiet, comparatively subdued.

(The material that follows is from the 887th session.

TES4 Session 169 July 12, 1965 Instream Dr Rhine crack gullible

[...] I had written to Dr. Instream on June 1,1965 and sent him sessions 138, 141, 142, 149, 153 and 154, plus lists of the inner senses and the basic laws of the inner universe as defined by Seth. [Jane calls the good doctor Instream in The Seth Material, C1970.]

(To digress a moment: As predicted by Seth in the 168th session of July 7, Jane and I did find ourselves involved with three men in particular, one of whom is younger, at the symposium. [...] On Saturday evening he leafed through some of the Seth material briefly, then pronounced it the work of a clever schizophrenic. [...]

[...] Jane and I received two brief letters from the director, concerning the Seth material, on March 23,1964 and April 23,1964. Jane then went into trance again, and began speaking as Seth in a strong and assured voice at 3:00.)

(This first part of the session is verbatim as usual, until the interchange between Seth and Dr. Instream began at 1:59. Here the pace began to speed up as the two talked back and forth, and in the interests of spontaneity, and because this was a new development in the sessions, I made no attempt to slow Seth down, nor to record every word Seth or Dr. Instream spoke.

NoPR Part Two: Chapter 13: Session 653, April 4, 1973 Monroe massive inside eagle Speakers

(2. There are clear connections between the “massive” portions of Jane’s latest psychic adventure and her first encounters with Seth Two in April, 1968; she goes into those experiences in some detail in Chapter Seventeen of The Seth Material. There is more on Seth Two in Chapter Twenty-two of Seth Speaks. In Chapter One of The Seth Material, she describes her first “trip” through an altered state of consciousness — and how it resulted in the production of her manuscript, The Physical Universe as Idea Construction. [...]

[...] I came across his essay, The Poet, in which he talked about the ‘speakers’ as being those who use their inner abilities to ‘speak the inner secrets of nature.’ The essay impressed me strongly, seeming to echo elements in my own writing and psychic characteristics; and of course I thought of Seth’s ‘Speakers’ as he described them in Chapter Twenty of Seth Speaks. [According to Seth, Emerson was a Speaker too!] Then Bob Monroe and his wife arrived, and we had a busy evening. Seth came through, and so forth.

(1. Seth deals with cellular memory to some extent in the 638th session in Chapter Ten; also see the 632nd and 637th sessions. Among other material covering altered states of consciousness on Jane’s part, refer to her Introduction, as well as the notes for the 639th session in Chapter Ten, and the 645th session in Chapter Eleven. [...]

(Seth came through Sunday night, April 1, in a long recorded discussion with the Monroes. [...]

TES2 Session 63 June 17, 1964 antimatter perspective ball interval Philip

(John Bradley requested a copy of the material pertaining to him. He left for his motel, taking with him a carbon of Volume 2 of the Seth Material for copying. [...]

(At 8:00 PM John Bradley arrived to witness the session, and to inform us that his friend in his hometown, Williamsport, PA, had finished copying Volume 1 of the Seth Material and was ready to begin Volume 2.

[...] Of these two families John said that the name of one of them, Snyder, immediately popped into his mind as Seth gave the pertinent material. [...]

[...] Note that two families with children live three doors from John; the Snyder family especially came to John’s mind as Seth gave the material on pages 159-160.

TPS6 Deleted Session May 5, 1981 panic superself dj poohed Sinful

[...] During one of our discussions yesterday, also, I mentioned to Jane some of my own ideas about the power of the Sinful Self, according to Seth’s material. [...] The two states almost seemed contradictory, I said to Jane, and hoped that Seth would go into that matter eventually.

[...] They were very unpleasant—frightening—and we thought that they were supposed to be therapeutic in nature, in line with Seth’s recent material. [...]

[...] I knew it, but asked anyhow in case Seth wanted to add to his material.)

(Frank Longwell visited this noon, and I read him Seth’s material from my notes. [...]

TPS4 Deleted Session May 22, 1978 inspiration deaden Frank distractions Instream

[...] The material we covered is indicated in Seth’s material immediately following, so there’s no need to recap it here.)

[...] We asked that Seth comment on the whole idea of inspiration for her, beyond material he’s already given.

(As Jane and I worked with the pendulum on Thursday morning, May 8, I thought of two questions for Seth that we’d never asked him before. [...]

[...] I asked that Seth comment.

TMA Appendix C Gramacy magician magic tricks coincidence

[...] “Like the New York Times ad test with Seth you two did and wrote up in The Seth Material. [...]

[...] Seth came through before I thought to remind Gramacy that he could record Seth, if Seth came through. But somehow in my mind at least, not recording that session added to it’s magical quality … the spontaneous psychological or psychic transformation came and went … We were sitting at the living-room table with the lamplight clear on my face; Gramacy could follow Seth’s psychological passage; see my features change, taking on ever so subtly those other contours. And Seth’s voice was jovial, booming, you didn’t have to strain to hear those words. [...] We hadn’t known that Gramacy was a scientist until he told us that night, and it was as a magician rather than as a scientist that Seth addressed him, telling him to trust his dramatic and imaginative flair.

“That’s why we don’t bother with effects that can be duplicated,” Seth suddenly said, “but with this performance and our books, which cannot be duplicated. For where does the material in the books come from? [...]

[...] And in a twinkling I’d changed into Seth. [...] Smiling, hearty, Seth talked about magic and cause and effect, but at the same time he demonstrated a magic that is beyond the clever manipulation of appearances. [...]

TES8 Session 418 June 24, 1968 sounds tumult undirected chaotic Grossman

(We expected Seth to speak tonight, and to deal with material Jane and I had been discussing just before session time. [...] Seth plunged in, in a most animated way, without preliminary greeting. [...]

(This refers to the book on the Seth material that Jane has now begun.)

[...] Jane did not respond, sitting quietly, so after a short pause I said good night to Seth on the assumption that the session was over. But she then resumed as Seth.)

(“Yes, Seth.”)

WTH Part One: Chapter 1: January 4, 1984 ginger ale decisions dreaded limping

(I meant to note: Some of today’s Seth material reminds me of Jane’s “sinful-self” material. [...]

[...] She said that last night she’d had a brief blue period, in which she’d wondered if she’d ever walk out on the street again, but got herself out of it by saying “cancel” to herself, and remembering Seth’s material.

(She also thought of a chapter in Seth’s new book, one that was titled “Food and You” — then found herself stewing about saying something wrong in the book and leading people astray — more signs of old habits. “But then,” she said, “I told myself to trust myself and Seth, and I said to hell with it.”

(In yesterday’s session, Seth said that “new developments concerning the insurance situation are occurring, to your benefit.” [...]

TPS6 Deleted Session February 23, 1981 pk target microscopic displacement micro

(I also think there are clear connections between Seth’s material this evening and that given in Appendix 4 in Volume 1 of “Unknown.” In that material I quoted Jane’s own material on other “sidepools” of neurological activity. I wrote later in “Unknown” that I thought Appendix 4 contained some of the best material in that work, and I still think so.)

(At 9:00 she told me she thought Seth would discuss my questions #5 and 6, about black-and-white thinking, and touch upon “that article” about micro metal-bending, or psychokinetic metal bending. [...] I’m attaching a copy of the article to this session, for Seth came through with some unique insights concerning healing and micro metal-bending, or PKMB.)

[...] I ask a question or two about it in my list of questions for Seth.

[...] Next comes my list of “pithy quotations” from the same group of sessions—positive statements from Seth [usually] that we can quickly review. [...]

NotP Chapter 9: Session 788, September 6, 1976 significances predream aunt vase Sarah

(Jane has just finished the final typing of her own The World View of Paul Cézanne, and now I’m ready to type the finished version of Volume I of Seth’s “Unknown” Reality. As I explain in the Introductory Notes for his book, we decided to publish Seth’s very long manuscript for “Unknown” in two volumes. This means that our readers can have access to somewhat less than half of that material while I prepare the much longer Volume 2 for later publication. [...]

(11:36 P.M. Jane said that Seth’s material was going to lead into the formation of EE units — electromagnetic energy units — and their collective role in the creation of physical matter.)

(At the same time, Seth marched right along on this book, Psyche. Jane jokingly commented that she wished Seth could type too.)

(“Good evening, Seth.”)

TPS2 Deleted Session June 14, 1972 church prophet intellectual Doran Christs

One letter from someone who wrote saying that The Seth Material contributed to a nervous breakdown is a case in point.

[...] Before the material was public this bothered him, but not to that degree. It worried him when people seem to turn to the material in the same way that they might turn to a church, merely substituting one set of ideas for another, while never experiencing the concepts themselves.

[...] The three Christs material particularly affects him that way, for to deny the conventional idea of Christ is to antagonize not merely Catholicism but basic Christian belief. The same material presented fictionally would not bother him at all. [...]

[...] The delivery of the material per se in our sessions, now, does not basically bother him. [...]

NotP Chapter 4: Session 769, March 29, 1976 bisexual sex sexual heterosexuality love

(Before tonight’s session, she and I discussed the importance of Seth’s material on human sexuality and hoped he would expand it.)

(After giving some material for Jane, Seth ended the session at 12:09 A.M.)

(Both of us were very glad to have Seth deliver this material on sex, as we’ve received many letters from men and women who were confused about their sexual identities, and often overwhelmed by feelings of guilt because of an orientation toward lesbianism or homosexuality.)

(Until she told me following the session, I didn’t realize that Jane was slightly discomfited by Seth’s remark about holes. I certainly wasn’t. I thought that her reaction itself was humorous; apparently Seth did too. [...]

TSM Chapter Fourteen dream waking clerks locations Turkish

Early in our sessions, Seth said that he once had a Turkish existence, but we have no information on one for us. We have all kinds of gaps to be filled in on our own past lives, however, because as long as I refused to accept reincarnation, I asked Rob not to ask for reincarnational material. Also, I became so upset when Seth gave such data that he probably thought it best to discontinue it for a while. When Seth is involved with a block of sessions on one subject, we hate to upset the continuity of the material by asking him to go into something else, and besides, we’ve learned that Seth eventually answers as many of our questions as possible.

Seth is not saying here that the Crucifixion was “just a dream.” [...] (According to Seth, of course, an idea is an event, whether physically materialized or not.)

I could write several books dealing with dreams alone, as Seth explains them. According to the Seth Material, our psychic development and growth, learning processes and experience, are all involved with our dream life. [...]

[...] Seth says that he has personally assisted me in some of my own projection experiments, but that I have not been aware of his assistance. I’ve never dreamed of Seth, and I find this rather strange. I’ve often awakened, fully alert, in the middle of the night, suddenly conscious that I’ve been giving a kind of Seth session. I can hear Seth’s words going through my head like signals. [...] Later the people involved told me that they dreamed that Seth was speaking to them through me on the same nights as my experiences. [...]

UR2 Appendix 25: (For Session 732) counterparts Norma Herriman Peter Granger

[...] Seth’s naming a good number of class members as counterparts came as no great surprise to Jane and me — but it did make us more than a little suspicious at first. We’ve been thinking about counterpart ideas since Seth introduced the concept two months ago; see the opening notes for the 721st session. Then, in the 726th session, Seth named Jane and me as counterparts of each other. Although we keep the power of suggestion in mind, on one level we found Seth’s associations quite pleasant for the most part, and, once given, somewhat as we might have expected them to be. Yet I felt no strong surge of emotion, for instance, to learn that Norma Pryor [whom I’ve met but a few times], Peter Smith, and Jack Pierce are counterparts of mine — nor did they when I read Seth’s material to them during ESP class six nights later. Jane’s feelings were pretty similar to mine, when Seth named three students as her counterparts: Sue Watkins, Zelda, and “the young man from Maryland….”

“We’re so used to thinking that our encounters with others are caused by chance — except for those we purposely bring about through choice, such as marriage partners — that Seth’s comments about my students seem a bit outrageous at first: So many counterparts in one room?

[...] And, according to Seth, the same would apply to any group. [...]

(Jane’s own counterparts, Sue, Zelda, Alan Koch, “Maryland,” and myself are all committed to the dissemination of Seth-type ideas, either through professional writing, classes, and/or lecture appearances that extend from one end of the country to the other.

TPS3 Deleted Session April 29, 1975 Castaneda advertising reputable publishing healer

(Jane, as Seth, paused. [...] But I think that Seth’s material here is the best we could possibly come across on our publisher, Castaneda, etc., and I’m sure that Jane will agree.

3. Material on organizations involving us, Seth, etc.

(Tonight we had several points we thought Seth might cover:

1. Seth’s letter for correspondents.
