True questioning and true use of the critical faculties will always lead Ruburt, to intuitional truths, so there is no reason to fear them. Those who do not understand their abilities intellectually must one day be led to question them. The intuitions and the intellect are meant to challenge and develop each other, and intuitional knowledge and intellectual knowledge will ultimately lead to the same answers.

Before, he used his intuitional abilities but always intellectually mistrusted them to some degree. Now he will trust them consciously and intellectually, and this development had to occur for his fulfillment now. It was a prerequisite for other developments and work that will come.

You must know enough to speak nearly as an equal with your inner self in order to do this. The process had finally to become conscious in your terms, with the ego highly involved. The intuitive portions of the personality had to have the full cooperation of the intellectual and conscious self at this point in your development and I am speaking of you both here.

Now, I have been, in many ways, a sly and cunning teacher, for the material is given in such a way that as you read it and use your intellect and intuitions to understand it, you automatically develop both your intuitions and your intellect and expand the nature of your own consciousness, though part of the training of consciousness itself is in the body of the material as it exists. To the extent that you extend yourselves, your abilities will automatically be developed, as you read and study the material. [...] Some of it is simple but they are quite necessary to those at a certain level of development. [...]

Now, you also often develop abilities in the dreaming and sleep state and perform work and creative activities of which you are not aware. Now, if you really learn to keep track of your dreams and record them over a period of time, you may get a clue as to what these activities are. There are other ways of obtaining clues in psychological time, for example, but if I were you, I would be much more curious about what I do in my dreams for you can utilize these abilities in the waking state. Last Thursday a letter from Prentice-Hall, suggesting that the Dream Manuscript be converted, sort of, into a book dealing with The Seth Material. [...] I was sort of appalled at the lost work in the Dream manuscript but realized Rob has been right along; and the editor was right. [...]

[...] Subjectively I feel this was as significant a development—almost—as the original Seth session. [...]

The man represents, now, an example of a personality highly endowed with intuition, and inner senses that are highly developed. [...]

We are not attempting to enlighten the intuitions at the expense of the intellect. We are attempting to work in such a manner that added knowledge from the intuitional inner self is also made known to the intellect.

We are attempting in these sessions to develop both of your abilities in many areas, while we still maintain a most necessary balance of development so that one part of you does not get top-heavy, and topple over. [...]

[...] Also to him a note: even his adolescent, seemingly-undisciplined times were disciplined, giving notice of continuing ego strength, balanced and sometimes over-balanced by intuitional development, in that he never ceased writing from the day that he began.

It is important that you realize that the dream world is a by-product of your own existence. [...] Since dreams are a by-product of any consciousness involved with matter, this leads us to the correct conclusion—that trees have their dreams, that all physical matter, being formed about individualized units of consciousness of varying degrees, also participates in the involuntary construction of the dream universe.

[...] As you know, animals dream. What you do not know is that all consciousnesses dream. We have said that to some degree even atoms and molecules have consciousness, and this minute consciousness nevertheless forms its own dreams, even as on the other hand it forms its own physical image.

You can, in other words, intuitively progress within an hour a year’s work, if you allow it. [...] I am saying be cautious, for while certain periods of time seem necessary within your system for the development of your work, that the ideas of limited time on a daily or weekly basis can slow down the intuitional qualities of your work and growth.

[...] The psychic experiences, intuitional developments, and dream activity—these refresh him and lead precisely to the kind of inspiration he wants. [...]

[...] He was quite correct, for those impulses arise from the larger self’s immersion in Framework 2, and those impulses led Ruburt to his intuitive inspirations, experiences of psychic events, and to the books. When he becomes overly concerned about writing as work, or with psychic development as something he should do, then he tangles those impulses, and becomes worried that he will not be suitably inspired again.

Now: Ruburt himself hit upon the “heroic impulses”—and what he meant was this: that ideally speaking the individual’s impulses were inner directional signals that, followed, would automatically lead to the greatest fulfillment and development.

[...] The child carries with him [or her] the impetus and supporting energy provided him at birth from Framework 2, and he knows intuitively that desires conducive to his development “happen” easier than those that are not. His natural impulses naturally lead him toward the development of his body and mind, and he is aware of a cushioning effect and support as he acts in accordance with those inner impulses. [...] When he gets sick he intuitively knows the reason why, and he knows quite well that he brought about the illness.

[...] To some extent or another, however, the child in you remembers a certain sense of mastery only half realized, of power nearly grasped, then seemingly lost forever — and a dimension of existence in which dreams quite literally came true. [...]

[...] The child knew that in one way or another its most intimate thoughts, dreams, and gestures were as connected with the natural world as blades of grass are to a field. [...]

He is also intuitively sure that without the stimulus you will never develop your abilities fully. [...]

[...] Intuitively he has always believed that you should leave Artistic. He was somewhat frightened over the circumstances some years ago, when you had no money behind you, but even then intuitively he felt you should do so.

(To me:) There are several intuitive developments regarding your work that are already in the making, and will bring you great pleasure and a sense of accomplishment. [...]

Ruburt’s condition will improve because of other developments, success in his work and other areas that will automatically bring about a concentration away from symptoms. [...]

You will also recall your dreams easier, and again those benefits mentioned in my book, you proofreader, you.

His own writing underwent its own kinds of transformation, however, and indeed it began those translations years ago, even before the sessions, so that for example even the science fiction could no longer contain or camouflage the larger intuitive framework that he was developing. [...]

(Jane has had several vivid dreams since we held the last session; they’ve been of the type described in recent private sessions—combinations of nightmarish events and characters, along with flashes of insight into the causes for the symptoms, and visions of herself walking normally, etc. [...]
